At first glance, it would appear the meaning of this spread is fairly easy to read. Attachment shows a woman with wrist chained looking left (at the past) transfixed by perceptions of someone or something restraining her movement. Yet next to her, Adjacent Possibilities suggests that if she were to only look around, a myriad of choices not only beckon, but many doors are wide open, as if awaiting her arrival.
Typically, at this point, I would advise it’s time to release situations or people that you accept as conditions preventing you from moving ahead, and turn instead to the possibilities available in the doorway right next to the one you’re standing in.
But today is not a typical day. Today we are in the full-tilt energy of the October New Moon and a partial solar eclipse.
New moons are times to set new intentions and express what you want to manifest. A solar eclipse is associated with fast-paced beginnings and sudden opportunities.
So it might seem the message is to dump the old, crash through the new door Kramer-style, and ride off into the sunset of the shiny new thing.
Two clichés come to mind:
Don’t throw the baby out with the bath water.
All that glitters is not gold.
Instead, right now is the time to ask not only what is holding you back, but why. Is it fear or habit that restrains you? What purpose does it have in your life?
Sometimes we forget that many old fears and habits were put in place to protect us. It could be something you adopted in childhood to feel safe or it could be something society ingrained in you. Whatever the source, the resulting fear or habit was created to protect you.
However, if you are feeling restricted or constrained, it means that fear or habit no longer serves who you’ve become. Before you let it go, thank it for protecting you in the past and tell it its job is over. You can handle things now. Put it in a bubble and gently blow it away.
Now you are ready to consider the open doors available to you. But no need to rush through the one that at first glance seems to hold the greatest treasure. Looks can be deceiving, and the energy of the solar eclipse will ignite the tendency to have blinders on and narrow your focus to what shines the brightest.
Today’s new moon energy of manifestation is being deeply affected by this giddy sense of empowerment mixed with a bit of reckless abandonment.
However, upon deeper reflection, the stars, the moon, the sun, and these cards suggest that isn’t the best course of action at this time. You are being guided to look to the past with open eyes and be grateful for what brought you to where you are today, regardless of the hell you had to transverse to get here. Hold onto the gratitude, release the rest.
Now you’re ready to evaluate those open doors. You only need to linger long enough to consider all possibilities. New moon energy affected by the partial solar eclipse is fleeting, afterall. So don’t stand in the hallway too long.
And so the seemingly mixed message “Hold on and let go” translates to “Know thyself,” and “Carpe Diem!”
In case you’re still unsure of trusting yourself, I’ve placed the seven chakra stones and I am Divine affirmation candle to support your ability to make the best choice. Namaste.
